SmoothCut is a screen recorder for macOS and Windows that turns a raw recording into a polished video without an editing session. You record your screen the way you normally would. SmoothCut then handles the parts that usually take an afternoon in a video editor: the zooms, the cursor, the sound and the captions. All of it runs on your own computer, and every automatic change stays editable on the timeline.
Automatic zoom. SmoothCut watches where you click and work, and zooms the recording there for you, with the depth, timing and easing already chosen. If a zoom lands in the wrong place, you move it, resize it or delete it on the timeline. Fast pans and zooms stay smooth instead of stepping, and motion blur keeps quick movement easy to follow.
Cursor smoothing. Your cursor is recorded as data rather than burned into the video, so after recording you can smooth its path, make it bigger, change its style and add click effects, all without recording again. A shaky mouse looks like a deliberate demo.
Camera layouts. Record your screen and camera together and arrange them afterwards: picture-in-picture, side by side, stacked for vertical video, or camera fullscreen. You can switch layout in the middle of a video from the timeline.
Sound and captions. Studio voice removes background noise on your computer. Silences and filler words are cut for you, retakes are detected, and captions are generated locally, so nothing is uploaded to transcribe it. Voice-over, music and a built-in sound library are there when a recording needs them.
Backgrounds, annotations and privacy. Place the recording on a wallpaper, gradient, colour or your own image, with padding, rounded corners and a shadow. Add text, arrows, shapes and images with entrance and exit motion. Blur or mosaic a key, an email address or a name, and it stays hidden through every zoom.
Export and sharing. Export up to 4K at 60 fps, in any aspect ratio, or as a GIF, including vertical clips for Shorts, Reels and TikTok. Share links let viewers react and comment.
Who it is for. SmoothCut is built for product demos and launch videos, tutorials and online courses, bug reports for engineering teams, and video messages that replace a meeting.
Pricing. There is no subscription and no account. You pay once: Personal is $79 for one computer with a year of updates, and Pro is $169 for up to five computers with lifetime updates. The free trial includes every feature, exporting included, with a watermark on exports, so you can judge the result on your own recordings before paying.
